You are God's soldier

"Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus."
2nd Timothy 2:3

We are all soldiers of God. All of us. Even though some people do bad, they are still a solider. That's how forgiving God is.
But just because you are still a solider no matter what, does not mean you can do wrong.
God does not like when people do wrong. But he still forgives us.
Have you ever heard of the saying, "Treat others hoe you would like to be treated." That's excatly what God wants you too do.
When you do wrong, that will give the Devil a chance make you do more worng and more wrong and more.
You are a soldier and you always will be.

knowing God by: Not Worrying

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,  casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6-7

Never worry in life. To every problem there is a solution. To every bad moment there is a good moment.
Life may be hard, but with God, He takes those bad days and turn them into good.
If you're looking for a job and haven't found one for years. You WILL find one. Anything bad in your life will turn good with God.
In this verse it says humble yourself and that is what you should do, humble yourself do not stress yourself.  Also in this verse it says, that he is casting all your anxieties on Him and by casting them on Him, He will turn them into good.
Therefor, do not worry.

Knowing God by: Serving Him

'What will you gain if you own the whole world, and destroy yourself?"
Mark 8:36

What does being successful mean? To some it means having expensive stuff, or clothing, or being skinny.
To others it means having fame and a great career. It takes a lot of energy to achieve that.
It's OK to be successful, but be careful not to lose your relationship with God. You may have all the money, fame and great stuff, but if you don't know God, you have nothing.
Know why? Because eventually, everyone dies. Everyone.
Eternity is ahead and if you don't know God, you will spend that eternity in Hell... Not fun.

Knowing God by: Being Like Christ

"If you want good fruit you must make the tree good, if your tree is not good, it will make bad fruit. A tree is known by the fruit it produces."
Matthew 12:33

Apple picking is fun. Running up and down the aisles of the orchard, picking nice and health apples. You especially like the ones with bird bites and worms oozing out of them, right? Yeah not so much. You want the one with no bird bites,or worms. You want a healthy apple.
And a healthy apple comes from a healthy tree.
Same goes for Christ- Followers, see, you can say "Christian" quotes, or verses, but the way you may treat others may not be the same as  the words you're saying.
That's the bad fruit in this verse.
How do you learn to be like Christ? Get to know Him.
You can get to know Him by reading His word and about His life. If you're learning about God, you are learning how you should live your life.

Knowing God by: Fighting Fear

"For God has not given us the power of fear and timidity, but of power, of love and of self discipline."
2 Timothy 1:7

Fear is a spirit. Fear uses your phobias, or your fear.
Fear is your weakness. But, you cannot run away from fear. You must run toward it. Like I said, fear is a spirit, therefor, it can talk. It will out talk you and you will run from it. You can't go up to your fear and say, " I'm too scared, nah I'm not gonna do it." No you have to say, " I am with the Lord my God, I shall not be afraid, I will face my fear, I will walk into my fear."
You must out talk the fear.
You can't let the fear overcome you.
You can't be afraid of a snake that's in your house. You have to go up to it and say, "I'm not afraid of you, this is my house, Go."
You can't be afraid of the dark. You have to walk into the dark and say. "Fear will not overcome me. I am not afraid of darkness."
Was David afraid of of Goliath? Goliath, a 10 feet tall giant?! No David was not afraid, he went up to him and took one sling and knocked him down.
Therefor, do not be afraid of fear. You are stronger that it and can and will overcome it.

Knowing God by: Following God's plans

"For I know the plans I have for you," declared the Lord, " plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11

Things may not go your way.
Maybe the way you want things to happen, is not the way God wants things to happen.
God has a plan for you!
God's plan may not be the way you want it to, but it is the right plan. Whatever plan God has for you is taking you down the correct path.
For example; If your someone looking for a job and you've been waiting for 3 years, maybe the jobs you're applying for is not the one God wants you to have, or it's not the right time for a job.
God always has a plan and his plan is the right path!

Knowing God by: Believing in Him

"Believe in the Lord you God and you shall be saved."
Acts 16:31

No matter how tough life gets, you must ALWAYS believe in God, He will always come through.
You could be having problem with your friends, or family, or anything, but no matter how long it takes, no matter how tough it gets, believe in the Lord your God and He will ALWAYS come through.

Knowing God by: Praying to Him

"But whenever they were in trouble and turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought Him out, they found Him."
2 Chronicles 15:4

You've probably played Hide and Seek before. The goal of the game is to hide really good, so the person who is "It" can not find you.
So you look for the best hiding place hoping you become invisible.
It's a fun game to play, but it's not one you can play with God. When you look for Him, you will find out that he is actually not hiding. It's more like He's jumping in front of you waving His hands in the air because he wants to be found.
He wants you to know that He will always be there and you can ask Him ANYTHING.
You can ask Him anything by praying to Him.

Knowing God by: Understanding Anger

"In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry."
Ephesians 4:26

Think about a time when you were really mad a someone.
Grrrr!
Did you just want to shout about how mad you were? Sometimes it's hard to get over being mad, especially if the person who made you mad isn't even sorry.
Sometimes people get SO mad. that they lie in bed planning out ways to get even and hurt the person.
That's not good and definitely doesn't please God.
God tells people to love one another. Love and Revenge do not go together. But, notice how God doesn't tell people not to get angry, He knows that everyone will get angry once in a while.
He says that when your angry, handle it in the right way... Don't sin.

Knowing God by: Treating others kind

 "Love you neighbor as yourself."
Mark: 12:31

This verse means that you should treat others how you would like to be treated.
Think of it like this: When Jesus was up on the cross and he was in pain, people were laughing at him, making fun of him and even throwing things at him, Jesus could've done something horrible to them, but He didn't.
Jesus didn't because of Love.
We should all love each other and treat each other how we would like to be treated.

Knowing God by: Suppressing my Pride

"You save the humble, but you bring down those who are proud."
Psalm 18:27

"Na, Na, Na, Na, boo, boo, I'm the coolest!" Proud people are all about themselves. Yeah, a bragger sings and tries to convince the world that she is the coolest.
A person consumed with pride can't let themselves praise anyone else. She won't recognize anyone else success because they always has to be the best.
This is not pleasant. More important than not pleasant, it is not pleasing to God. He's not a fan of bragging, in fact He will bring down a proud person.

Knowing God by: His Love

"Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of age."
Matthew 28:20

It would be awesome if people you love could promise that they will never, ever leave you. They can't, all humans will die eventually. Not much we can do about that. Beyond that, sometime friends stop being friends. Sometimes families break up and one parent leaves (even though their love for you never stops). Sometimes when the going gets tough, people leave.
One way that you know God totally loves you is that He will never, ever leave you. Never. He promises. Gods love is incredibly strong and He will stay with you no matter how tough life gets, regardless rather or not you love him back.
He wants you to obey him and do his work, of course. But even if times happen when you don't want them to... He will never leave you.
